Body transformations in your 40s – the truth

The story so far…

Week 64 – 11st 6lbs to 8st 10lbs

Have you ever looked at body transformation photos and wondered what they REALLY ate? I have.

In March 2020, aged 47, I’d been at least 3 stone overweight for the best part of 20 years. I’d tried every diet under the sun. I was fat, tired and fed up…something had to change.

I decided to train properly and eat healthily and to really commit myself to it (for longer than 3 weeks!). Determined to get to my 50th birthday in better shape than when I was in my 20s, I photographed everything I ate.

This blog started as a series of texts to amuse my friends through lockdown – and then it became much more. A true account of a fat, stressed woman with a full time job who was trying to get fit and healthy. It logs every exercise I did and everything I shoved in my mouth.

In March 2020 I weighed 11st 6lbs and was a UK size 12-14. In June 2021 I weigh about 8st 10lbs and I’m a UK size 6 (in tops and bottoms (excuse me whilst I do a little dance of excitement)).

After 65 weeks of commitment my life has changed beyond all recognition. I have given away almost every single item of clothing I owned and redesigned my appearance.

It is, without doubt, the single best thing that I have ever done for myself.

I hope that in some small way this blog might help you find a way to progress on your own journey. There is no single correct way of doing things, no ridiculous low calorie crash diet, just sensible food, exercise and a large slice of consistency.

The one thing I do know is that if I can do it – anyone can. I wish that I’d known years ago how utterly fantastic it is to live life without a muffin top.
