Muffin Tops and Mayhem

Week 22 – Journals and Progress Photos

All in all this has been a pretty good week. Quite how I managed to end the week a pound heavier than I started, I don’t know.

But there is it; some days we’re the pigeon and some days we’re the statue.

Day 148:

Breakfast was eaten in the car on account of a trip with Lovely Girl #1 to go and pick up some bits and pieces for uni.

We found the Organic Deli Cafe in Oxford and had an amazing vegan lunch.

When I got home I did 40 minutes on the bike with 30 mins of intervals. It took 28 minute and 35 seconds for me to stop swearing about how much I didn’t want to do it. But at 28 mins 36 seconds I felt great and was glad that I’d made the effort to get my kit on.

Day 149:

Today was a good food day but I could have drunk a bit more water.

We went out for tea with some family friends, I skipped the scones and just drank peppermint tea. I felt extremely virtuous.

Tomorrow morning I’ve got a session with Luke at 6:30 so I made the executive decision to have a rest day.

Day 150:

This morning I was at Luke’s studio at 6:30 feeling bright and breezy. I love training first thing in the morning. Today we started to increase the size of the weights that I’m using. I loved it.

I trained, went home, showered and still got into the office early.

As I walked to the office I felt utterly fantastic. My clothes felt really loose and for the first time I felt completely free of food cravings. This was accompanied by a sense of freedom that I don’t think I’ve ever had before.

I spent the day hitching up my size 10 knickers that were determined to escape despite the fact that I was wearing trousers. The requirement to sort out my knicker drawer was becoming more pressing.

Day 151:

After yesterday’s training I slept really well, but woke up feeling like every muscle in my back and arms was bruised. I hadn’t been sore from training for quite a while and I knew that Luke would be delighted. Some days I suspect that he might be a bit of a sadist!

I was hungry today and made sure that I ate loads of veg. My dog was ill with explosive ‘flop bot’ and by 11am I’d bleached the kitchen floor at least 3 times. I took her to the vet who said that she seemed to have eaten something that had upset her. It had clearly upset her quite a bit and, as if to prove a point, she had diarrhoea 3 times while she was in the vet’s.

I didn’t drink enough today.

Day 152:

I have invented a new breakfast – overnight oats with almond milk, grated carrots, grated courgettes and whole almonds. It is much, much nicer than it sounds. Plus it squeezes in two 80g portions of veg without anyone noticing.

I didn’t drink enough water today but I did manage a whole hour of 60 second intervals on the bike.

Day 153:

Today was an excellent day. I trained hard and ate well. Dinner was a Riverford recipe box cooked by the fair hands of my Lovely Girl. It was amazing.

Day 154:

Well I think that the scales must be broken. Either that, or I was visited by the fat fairies in the night.

The decision to haul my fat arse onto the bike at the end of a long and stressful day was significantly influenced by the broken scales. But at the end of a sweaty hour I felt so much better.

I know that you don’t gain 2lbs overnight so clearly something I’d eaten had made me retain water.

I don’t quite know what happened to my steps – but I”m pretty sure that the last digit is missing! I’m going to call it 8421.

End of Week 22 Progress Photos:

Despite being somewhat miffed by the sudden addition of 2lbs overnight I’m mildly pleased with this week’s photos.

So far I’m 16 lbs of body fat down.

Side Quest Progress Photos (end of week 8):

I’m really pleased that I decided to do the side quest photos. It is a pain in the arse at 6am on a Friday morning to squeeze myself into two different sets of kit, but it has highlighted my progress in a way that the normal progress photos don’t.

However I think that we have probably succeeded in this side quest and it’s time for a new one.

Whilst contemplating this, my envious eyes alighted upon my 18 year old daughter’s jeans…I think that I’ve found my new challenge… first photos next week!
