Muffin Tops and Mayhem

Week 9 – Journals and Photos

These are the hard yards. I always knew that there would come a point when the honeymoon would be over. Throughout weeks 9 – 14 all I had to do was to keep my head down and keep going.

To give up, or more particularly get distracted, at this point would be to undo all of the progress that I’d made. I was not willing to go back to being the lardy arse that I was before.

The whole reason for undertaking this escapade was to decrease my risk of serious disease and cancer as I enter my 50s.

Giving up would increase the likelihood that my Lovely Girls would have to watch me die of cancer. I saw what my husband and mother-in-law went through and this was not an option.

It was boring. The results were not quite as noticeable as they had been at the start. However, I would never get to my destination unless I trudged through these barren wastelands feeling like I was living an eternal Groundhog Day.

Day 57:

A lazy day. No exercise to speak of and a proper rest.

I drank a lot (water and herbal tea!) and ate well.

Day 58:

An early morning walk preceded my mum’s Sunday lunch. Yum. There is nothing in the whole world better than my Mum’s cooking.

Pudding was apple crumble; I’ve never liked crumbles which is why my Mum made it for the others. (Thanks Mum).

I managed a reluctant bike ride in the afternoon.

Leftovers for dinner (minus the potatoes). Bloody lovely!

Day 59:

May Day Bank Holiday. The day was mine to fritter away.

I’d been doing a lot of writing and my blog was ready to publish. I felt sick and shaky all day.

At about 4pm, I bit the bullet and it went live. I texted my friends and without exception they dropped everything to read my nonsense.

I did a massive workout to take my mind off things.

By the time I’d finished my workout all of my friends had come back to me. They loved the blog and their feedback made me cry. I felt humbled by their kind words.

Day 60:

My right glute, calf, deltoid and wrist were painful when I woke. A brisk walk helped me to loosen up and I did some stretches while breakfast was cooking.

I was really hungry and made porridge to take into the office with me but I forget my flask. The day was long and stressful and I was home late.

I spent quite a lot of energy fretting about my blog. By the time I got home I was late and hadn’t eaten. It would have been so easy to slack off the cardio and sit on my arse. I’m glad that I didn’t.

Day 61:

Today was amazing. This post says it all.

Day 62:

Oh dear god – my legs hurt.

I was on a roll with the daily posts. My day is described in detail here.

Day 63:

The end of week 9. I was still in a phase of writing about each day as it happened – Day 63 is here.

Oh blimey – as I write this now I’d completely forgotten about the Baked Alaska. If I”d have known on Day 63 the effect that it was going to have on Day 64 then I would NOT have eaten it.

I did my progress photos (see below).

End of Week 9 Progress Photos:

The usual apologies apply for the lack of consistency of angles etc. This is something that I have got better at over the weeks.
