Week 15 – Journals and Photos

There is really only one thing to say about this week – finally, the hairdressers are allowed to re-open. After 4 months of lock down I was a desperate woman.

Day 99:

Today was D Day – a haircut and a search for some new jeans.

On the food front – I nailed it today despite being out all day. I sat in the car and ate a chickpea salad. Halfway through the salad I really didn’t want to eat any more blasted lettuce, but like a little rabbit I kept going. This meant that I was full and not tempted to snack on anything I shouldn’t.

This was my first proper day of trying to eat 10 x 80g portions of vegetables (no fruit) a day. The portions numbers are in green on the left hand side.

Despite getting the food right I didn’t drink enough water – mostly because we were in the car for a while and I didn’t want to stop at the services.

Day 100:

A day out with Lovey Girl #2. We’d both been feeling cooped up and needed some time to mooch and hang out. We went to Oxford for the day.

The lunch options were limited so we went to Pret a Manger who can always be relied on for something healthy. The sandwiches are amazing but I stuck to the plan and had a tuna salad.

Day 101:

Days in the office are always harder than ones at home. I have to be prepared and make sure that I remember to eat instead of working straight through lunch.

The lunchtime salad was huge and seemed to be never ending. It took half an hour to finish it.

By the time I got home my head was splitting but I could not wait to workout.

All in all this was a good day. I ate loads of veg, drank loads of water and had a great workout. If I could manage do this everyday then I’d be a happy bunny.

Day 102:

Yesterday’s workout triggered a different sort of pain in my right knee. I suspected the step squats (where you sit on a step of the stairs with your feet on the step below and do squats until your bum touches the step).

Another day in the office went well on the food front. My legs were heavy after yesterday’s workout and when I finally got home I really didn’t want to do an hour on the bike. It was hard today but I kept going.

Day 103:

This morning I had a brainwave. Somewhere in the dim and distant past I’d read that you could add grated courgette to porridge and it didn’t taste awful.

I thought that this would be a good way to squeeze in an extra portions of veg without it being noticeable. It was.

There really is no change in taste when courgette is added to porridge. The consistency is a little ‘meatier’ but it’s quite nice.

I trained so hard with Luke at lunchtime that I thought that I might actually die. It was great.

After my monster workout I didn’t feel like eating I had some eggs and tomatoes. Then I had 5 cherries that were grown in a friend’s garden. They were lovely but really sweet. Almost too sweet to eat.

I was surprised that after just a few weeks of not eating fruit my taste had changed so much.

Day 104:

I had mega sore legs from yesterday’s workout but I had another training session first thing. It was great.

My journal exercise section is incomplete because I was so knackered that I couldn’t remember. The exercise was 5 rounds of the following (no rest between sets):

warm up – 10/15/20 squats to o/h with med ball

  • 20 x single arm deadlift to overhead press (2.25kg)
  • 20 x shoulder press with 4kg med ball
  • 20 x shoulder front raises with dumbbells (1.75kg).

Day 105:

I took my progress photos this morning and was pleased (see below).

It was a phenomenally busy day in the office but I ate well. However, I lost track of how much water I drank and probably didn’t drink enough.

Top tip – don’t mix your protein shake with a pencil. It doesn’t work.

End of Week 15 – Progress Photos:

I was so pleased with the difference in 15 weeks.

Side quest results:

At the end of Week 14 it had become clear that the clothes that I was wearing for the progress photos were becoming a little loose. So I took a second set of photos in a pair of small Sweaty Betty power leggings and a medium Sweaty Betty stamina top.

The leggings are clearly a bit too small (at the mo) but this week was the first set of comparison photos in the smaller leggings.

I was pretty pleased for just 7 days difference.
